An optimised gearbox shifts down quicker in acceleration. This provides faster access to the required engine power used for overtaking or entering a motorway.
The improved off-throttle response maintains the right gear for the most efficient rpm after you’ve either braked or released the gas pedal momentarily. Once you press back down on the throttle, the acceleration is immediate. This is an effect of the gearbox maintaining a lower gear and higher rpm, which reduces turbo lag. This results in better control in your active driving, like when you’re overtaking cars or driving on winding roads.
Any gear shifting during cornering can unsettle your car. The optimisation counters this by recognising the most optimal gear and maintaining it. This both stabilises the car and provides a better grip when you’re cornering.
